FAQ

Questions about the clinic, answered plainly

If yours isn’t here, call during office hours and ask the front desk.

Who can the clinic help?

People who worked in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb County, whose household income is under our funding line, with a problem at work. The eligibility check asks about all three.

Do you help employers or managers?

No. We represent workers only. If you supervise others but are owed pay yourself, call us; that can still be a worker’s case.

What does it cost?

Nothing for workers who qualify. If a case goes to court, filing costs can often be waived, and we tell you about any cost before it comes up.

Can I come in without an appointment?

On Saturday mornings, yes. On weekdays, call first so a lawyer is free when you arrive.

Is the office easy to reach?

We’re on Mack Avenue near a bus stop, with street parking and a step-free entrance at the side door.

Do you have interpreters?

Yes, for Arabic, Bengali and Spanish, and by phone for many other languages. Tell us when you call.

Will you take my case to court?

Sometimes. Many matters settle with a letter or a negotiation. When a case needs to be filed, we’ll explain what that means for you before anything happens.

How long does a case take?

A severance review can take days. A wage claim can take months. We’ll give you an honest estimate once we know the facts.

Ready to see if you qualify?

Three questions, about two minutes. We’ll get back to you to talk it through.
