Bogdan Wierzbicki

Founder and volunteer counsel

Bogdan founded the clinic and still volunteers there every Saturday morning.

Bogdan grew up in Hamtramck above his parents’ bakery and spent four decades representing autoworkers, nurses and grocery clerks. When he retired from practice, he opened the clinic so workers who couldn’t find a lawyer would have somewhere to go.

He now volunteers as counsel, reviewing severance agreements and mentoring the clinic’s younger lawyers.

How Bogdan works

Bogdan likes to say that most work cases are won at the kitchen table, with the worker’s own notes, long before anyone sees a courtroom. He spends his Saturdays teaching people how to keep those notes.

He speaks Polish with clients who prefer it, and he still answers the front desk phone when it rings too long.
